HomeMy Public PortalAbout1983_09_14_R140The Town of Leesburg in Virginia PRESENTED September 14, 1983 RESOLUTION NO. 83-140 ADOPTED September 14~ 1983 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AND REFERRING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION UNDER CHAPTER 11, TITLE 15.1 OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA WHEREAS, Section 2-7-2 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance provides that all multi-family dwellings shall provide two parking spaces per unit; and WHEREAS, studies indicate that housing for the elderly requires substantially fewer parking spaces than conventional development; and WHEREAS, provision of unneeded parking spaces increases both the capital and long-term maintenance costs of elderly housing projects: RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. An amendment of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance is initiated to add a new category to Section 2-7-2(a) to read as follows: Types of uses: (a) Residential (1) Single family dwelling, detached (2) Single family dwelling, attached (3) Multi-family dwelling (4) Rooming/boarding house (5) Tourist home (6) Family care homes (7) Group homes (8) Mobile home parks (9) Housin~ for the elderly Required No. Parking Spaces 2.0 per dwelling 2.0 per dwelling 2.0 per dwelling 1.0 per sleeping room 1.0 per sleeping room 0.25 per occupant 0.25 per occupant 1.5 per dwelling 2.0 spaces for each three dwellinss SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall conduct a public hearing on this amendment and submit a report to Council in accordance with the provisions of Section 15.1-493: of the 1950 Code of Virginia as amended. -2- PASSED this 14th day of September , 1983.
