HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 66-569 Election: Calling for Special Election March 22, 1966 AnnexationRESOLUTiON NO. 66 -569 A RESOLUTION OF THE C1TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 22ND DAY OF MARCH, 1966, PERTAINING TO THE ANNEXATION OF "ANNEXATION NO. 10" TO THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 65 -553, the City Council of the City of Temple City declared its intention to call a special election in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said City proposed to be annexed to the City, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not the territory shall be annexed to the City; and WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution was published as required by law; and WHEREAS, at a time not later than the hour set by said Reso- lution for hearing objections to the proposed election protests were not made by the owners or by public and private owners equal to one - half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed; and WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said Resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto heresy being made for further particulars; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. A special election is hereby called to be held on the 22nd day of March, 1966, in the territory hereinafter described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Temple City, for the purpcsc • of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory rh.: question whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incorpor- ated in) and made a part of said City of Temple City. Said territory is described as follows: That parcel of land in the County of Los Angeles, State of California included within the following described boundary: Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Longden Avenue (60 feet wide) as shown on map of Tract No. 5904 recorded in Book 69, page 29 of Maps in the office of the County Recorder of said County with the southerly continuation of a curv, concave to the east and having a radius of 40050 feet, in the westerly line of Rosemead Boulevard, said curve being the westerly line of the land described as Parcel 1 in deed to the State of California recorded in Book 29691, page 310 of Official Records in the office of said Recorder, said intersection being also a point in the westerly boundary of the City of Temple City as the same e;;"isted on ,iul; 1, 1'565; thence westerly along said center line to the center line of Muscatel Avenue (60 feet wide) as shown on rs,p of Tract No, 5903 recorded in Book 67, Pogo 59 of said Maps; ther;ce c tir ;wing westerly along the center line of said Longden Avenue (60 feet vide) as shown on said last mentioned map to the northerly prolongation of the westerly line_ of Lot 31, said last mentioned tract thence southerly in e direct line to the southwesterly corner of Lot 18 of s_id last m =.ntioeo tract; thence southerly in a direct line to the rort':e_,sterly r er of the land descrfteci first in Parcel 153 (EatonWa "h) i4' a Final Order of C ;i demr,ation had in Su- perior Court Case Nc. E50.62 y certified copy of which is recorded irr\ i' Book 53333, page 360 of said Oftial Records; thence southerly 817 Resolution No. 66 -569 i'; along the easterly line of said last mentioned p;.rcei of land to the southeasterly corner of said last mentioned parcel of land; thence southerly along the easterly line of the easement to said District (Eaton Wash) as described in easement recorded in Book 16003, page 132 of said Official Records, to the northeasterly corner of the ease- ment to said District (Eaton Wash) as described in easement recorded in Book 14112, page 68 of said Official Records; thence southerly a- long the easterly line of said last mentioned easement to the most southerly corner of said last mentioned easement; thence southerly a- long the easterly line of the land described first in Parcel 152 (Eaton Wash) in a Final Order of Condemnation had in Superior Court Case No. 658762, a certified copy of which is recorded in Book 55461, page 44 of said Official Records to the northerly line of Lot 9, Tract No. 29908 as shown on map recorded in Book 735, pages 60 and 61 of said Maps; thence westerly along the northerly line of said last men- tioned lot to the northwesterly corner of said last mentioned lot; thence southerly along the westerly line of said last mentioned tract to the southwesterly corner of Lot 4 of said last mentioned tract; thence easterly along the southerly line of said last mentioned lot to the easterly line of the land described first in parcel 152 (Eaton Wash) in a Final Order of Condemnation had in Superior Court Case No. 658762, a certified copy of which is recorded in Book 55461, page 44 of said Official Records; thence southerly along said last mentioned easterly line to the northerly line of Hermosa Drive (formerly Maple Avenue) (60 feet wide) as shown on map of said Tract No. 5903; thence southeasterly in a direct line to the northwesterly corner of the land described in deed recorded in Book 01704, page 652 of said Official Records; thence westerly along the southerly line of said Hermosa Drive to the Southwesterly line of the 100 foot strip of land de- scribed in deed to said District (Eaton !-`ash) recorded in Book 14139. page 2 of said Official Records; thence southeasterly along the south, westerly line of said 100 foot strip of land to an angle point in the boundary of the City of San Gabriel as the same existed on said date; thence southeasterly, easterly and southerly along said last mentioneC. City Boundary to an angle point in said boundary of the City of Ter;iple City, said angle point being the intersection of said last mentioned center line with a line drawn at right angles to the easterly line of Muscatel Avenue (60 feet wide) as described in deed to the County of Les Angeles recorded in Book 1488, page 361 of said Official Records and that passes through the intersection of said last mentioned east- erly l•ine and the westerly line of the Eaton'Wash as described in dead to saco District recorded in Book 7230, page.110 of Deeds in the of- fice of said Recorder;• thence easterly along said last mentioned City Boundary and foilowing the same in all its various courses to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. The polls at said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m, of the day herein fixed for the holding of said election and shall be kept open until 7 :00 o'clock p.m. of the same day, when the polls shall be closed. SECTION 3. Upon the ballots to be used at said election there shall be printed the words: SHALL "ANNEXATION NO. 10" BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY? Opposite these words there shall be printed the words "Yes" and "No ", and to the right of each of these last two words there shall be a voting sgr'ere. If an elector shall stamp an "X" in the voting square after the printed word "Yes" the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the annexation of said territory to the City of Temple City and if an elector shall stamp an "X" in the voting square -fter the printed work "No" the vote of such elector shall be :;Ji.;nti:•.l against SUcI'1 annexat l OI'I. (a) For the purpose of said election there hereby is established in the territory described herein two (2) vot- ing precincts, which shall include all of said territory. The follow- ing are the polling places of said election precincts and the follow- ing named persons hereby are named officers of election and shall con- stitute the boards of election for such election precincts. Voting precinct #1, comprising regular election precinct Rio Hondo #1 and that portion of Rio Hondo #100 lying within the boundaries of proposed Annexation #10. Polling Place: 6216 Ivar (Mrs. Bertha Orcino) Inspector; Mrs. Gladys E. Noack, 6152 Reno Judge: Mrs. Bertha Orcino, 6216 Ivar Judge: Mrs. Mary C. Fulton, 6236 Reno Voting Precinct #2, comprising regular election precincts Rio Hondo #102 and those portions of Rio Hondo #38 and #44 Lying with- in the boundaries of proposed Annexation #10. Polling Place: 6113 Muscatel (Mrs. Ralph Beckman) Inspector: Mrs. Irene P. Houghton, 8741 Garibaldi Judge: Mrs. Violet Sampson, 8740 Garibaldi Judge: Mrs. Anna Rush, 6236 N. Avon (b) For their services in connection with said election, said Inspectors shall receive $18.00 and said Judges $15.00 each; and the persons in possession of the polling places named herein shall re- ceive for the use of such premises in connection with said election the sum of $15.00. 5. The City Clerk shall publish a notice of said special elec- tion as required by the Annexation Acto of 1913, at least once a week for the four (4) weeks prior to the cote of the election on March 22, 1966, in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, a newspaper of general cir- culation printed and published outside of the City of Temple City but in the County of Los Angeles, California. 6. This Resolution shall take effect upon its publication. 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolu- tion and cause the same to be published once in the Temple City Times, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Temple City.
