HomeMy Public PortalAbout1952-11-25 MeetingNovember 25, 1952 The Council of Bal Harbour Village met at the Administration Building, at 8:00, o'clock P.M., Monday, November 25, 1952. Present were:. Messrs. Beatty, Simons, Stokely, and Dr. Leonard., , Absent: Mr. Brown Also present were W. H. Nebb,, Waage Manager; MdryWetterer: Village Clerk; and Fred Baisden, Village Attorney. , The,minutes of the previous meeting 040ctober 20,,1952 were, read and approved. Mr. Webb reported that the Planning Board had met With the ChUrch By The Sea officials and had rejected their request for an illuminated sign on the east eleVation of the church building. * " Mr. Webb presented toIthe Council applications from thePi h ne er Motor Sales, Inc. anclGunnar W. Lind for renewal.of'their taxi4ermits.: - Mr.:Webb said he wished to point out that the Pincher Motor,CoMpany_would -again Operate,unmetered cahs, Also presented for:epproval-were applica- tions Of'Fincher Motor Sales, Inc.,,amd Morse-AutO Rental:a-for tr.,Drivie4t permits. On motion of Mr. Simons; seconded by Mr. Beatty it Wds unani- mously voted thdt Pincher Motor Sales be granted Texi'and U-Drive4t per- ..mits for the Sea View and Emerald Isle Hotels, and'Morseltto Sales -for Auto Hentalsat the Kenilworth Hotel and, Gunnar W. Lind to operate taXis in Bal Harbour Village. • Mr. Stokely read to the Council a letter fromMr, Harry,k. Brown stating that he might possiblY resign from the Council. NO action, was taken on this letter and the. members present said they wished to talk to _Mr. Brown the next time he wofd be in town. . Mr: Webb said' he had been informed by :Poise, Chief Parkes that at a recent trial in the county courts it was mentioned.that,race informa- tion was being transferred to Bal Harbour. He saidthat Chief Parkes:had requested permission to put all establighments on notice that,gembling'in, any form Would not be permitted in Ba,l'Harbour. After,d1scusdion on motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Simons, it was unanimously voted that the Chief, would be authorized to notify all establishments :of the -Village stand on gambling end if any violations of our ordinances.Were found to.exist they would,be brought to triala Mr. Webb presented the audit of the Village for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1952. After -consideration it was moved by Mr. BeattYi seconded by Dr. Leonard and unanimously voted'that the audit be'accepted and printed and maile-dto al] the taxpayers, ' There being,no further business before the meeting on motion of Mr. teitty, suoondedloy Dr. Leonard, the meeting iaas.adjourned.
