Leesburg Council Seeks Feedback on Downtown Holiday
Parking Program
Public input session planned for Tuesday, January 25, 2011 Council meeting
Leesburg, VA (January 13, 2011) – The Leesburg Town Council will hold a public input session
on the downtown holiday parking program at the Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 25,
2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Leesburg Town Hall.
The Town’s downtown holiday parking program provides free parking in the Town Hall Parking
Garage and two hours free parking at all on-street parking meters, from Thanksgiving weekend
through New Year’s Day. The holiday parking program began in 2005 and is intended to
complement the holiday shopping & dining promotions offered by downtown merchants.
This year, free parking in the Town Hall Parking Garage has been extended to February 23,
2011, while the Town Council evaluates a number of options with regard to parking fees. The
Council is considering the elimination of all parking fees in the Town Hall Parking Garage.
At the public input session, the Town Council invites downtown business owners and
employees as well as other customers of the Town Hall Parking Garage and on-street parking
meters to offer their opinions on how well the parking program functions, its efficacy in
attracting customers to shop and dine downtown during the holiday shopping season, any
parking problems created or exacerbated by the program, and any other observations or
opinions on the holiday parking program.
