HomeMy Public PortalAbout1985_01_23_R019 The Town of Leesburg in Virginia PRE SENTED January 23, 1985 RESOLUTION NO. 85-19 ADOPTED January 23, 1985 A RESOLUTION: REQUESTING THE INITIATION OF A ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT--Route 654 WHEREAS, a State Secondary Fund allocation had been made towards the improve- ment of Route 654; and WHEREAS, the Town Council by Resolution No. 84-83 requested the transfer of funds from the Department of Highways Secondary Road Improvement program to Leesburg's Urban Systems account; and WHEREAS, the Route 7 Corridor Study and the Leesburg Area Management Plan and the draft Leesburg Town Plan show a road connection between Route 654 and Cardinal Park Drive; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the construction of a collector road connecting Cardinal Park Drive and Route 654 is in the best interest of public safety and is an effective expenditure of funds: THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Leesburg Town Council requests that the sum of $284,545.77 be used for the design and construction of a collector road connecting Cardinal Park Drive and Route 654. SECTION II. The Leesburg Town Council requests that Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation initiate a design study and road improvement project connecting Route 654 to Cardinal Park Drive generally within the easements acquired for this road, beginning at a point north of the western boundary of Lot 9 of Cardinal Industrial Park and terminating on the eastern boundary of the access easement between Lots 4 and 5 of Cardinal Industrial Park. 654 ROUTE 654 -2- PASSED this 23rd day of January ATTEST .- Clerk of ~hcil , 1985.
