HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-26-2009THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 26, 2009 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, March 26, 2009, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson and Dian Lawson. Also attending were Police Chief Kris Wolski, Captain Terry Hopkins and Darin Housain from Pro Lawn. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that two board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson brought to the board a request to approve the minutes for the March 19, 2009 meeting. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment for March 27, 2009 in the amount of $155,650.16. She explained of that total $77,997.00 was paid to the Richmond Housing Authority for the demolition of Nicholson School through Redevelopment and $21,575.93 to Harvest Land for unleaded and diesel fuels. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. POLICE APPOINTMENTS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Police Chief Kris Wolski for the board to approve the appointment of Officer Brandon Cappa to the status of First Class Patrolman. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CURB CUTS A. Robinson made a request to the board to approve a curb cut at 1507 SW "a' Street. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes March 26, 2009 Page 2 of 2 BID AWARDS A. Robinson made a request to the board that was submitted by Metropolitan Development Director Tony Foster to award the bid for City Mowing to Rinehart's Lawn Care. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Police Chief Kris Wolski for the board to award the bid for 7 vehicles for the Richmond Police Department to Wetzel Family Auto in the total amount of $157,269.00. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. STREET CLOSURES A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins and Darin Housain from Pro Lawn Care for the approval for the closure of South "L" Street from Liberty Avenue to South 5th Street starting on Friday, March 27, 2009 to Friday, April 1, 2009 for installation of a new drainage line. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously.
