A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE SUBMITTAL OF THE DESIGN PLANS TO THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE TRAILS PHASE FOUR PROJECT STP -E-
7662(609) -8V-52 JOHNSON COUNTY AND THE APPROVAL OF TIF.FUNDS TO ASSIST IN THE
FINANCING OF PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa desires to extend the Trail System from the current location at
Jasper Avenue to continue east toward 1-380 Interstate along the north side of the Clear Creek on city owned
land.
WHEREAS, a hard surfaced paved trail with minimal grading requirements and minimal removal of trees for
the construction of said trail system as to not grossly disturb the surrounding area, and understand that grading
and construction can not begin prior to September 15, 2011, for the protection of the Indiana Bat,
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin has requested the amount of $161,844 of Federal Funds to assist in
the planning, designing and construction of the said trail.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin desires to use TIF Funds to assist in the Project.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin has solicited Hart Frederick Consultants to design a plan of said
project.
THEREFORE,`IT IS NOW AGREED the City of Tiffin, Iowa will now approve the Design Plan for the Trails
Phase Four Project and will instruct Hart Frederick Consultants to submit the plans to the Iowa Department of
Transportation and the City of Tiffin will await for approval to proceed with the grading and construction of trail..
The City Council of Tiffin, Iowa does authorize the use of TIF Funds to finance in part the, planning, designing,
legal fees and construction of said Project.
Motion made by Councilperson Jim Bartels seconded by Councilperson Chris Ball to adopt and approve
Resolution 2011-08.
AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mark Petersen, Travis Weipert
NAY: None
ABSENT: Mike Gericke
Whereupon four votes having voted Aye, Mayor Phillips declared the Resolution A RESOLUTION TO
APPROVE THE SUBMITTAL OF THE DESIGN PLANS TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE TRAILS PHASE FOUR PROJECT STP -E -7662(609)-8V-52
JOHNSON COUNTY AND THE APPROVAL OF TIF FUNDS TO ASSIST IN THE FINANCING OF
PROJECT be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 9t" day of 2011.
