RESOLUTION APPROVING APPOINTMENT OF
GLORIA GIERKE AS CHAIR AND
BILL BRIESCH AS VICE CHAIR OF THE
RIVERDALE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR A
TERM BEGINNING EFFECTIVE WITH PASSAGE OF THIS
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Riverdale ("City") is authorized to maintain a
Planning and Zoning Commission("Commission") by Chapter 21 of the Riverdale City Code under
authority granted by the Code of Iowa at Chapters 414.6 and 392.1; and,
WHEREAS, said Commission is to maintain a Board of 5 members with one member to be
appointed as Chair person of the Commission, which role was vacated by the resignation of member and
Chair person Mark Griswold; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Bawden has nominated Gloria Gierke, a resident of Riverdale and member
of the Commission, to fill the role as Chair person for the remainder of her term ending December 31,
2020, and Bill Briesch, a resident of Riverdale and member of the Commission to act as Chair in
Gierke's absence; and,
WHEREAS, upon due consideration of the nomination, the City Council desires to approve his
recommended appointments.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, SCOTT COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF IOWA:
That the City Council approves the Mayor's nomination of Gloria Gierke as Chair person of the
Planning and Zoning commission and Bill Briesch as Vice Chair for a term commencing effective
with the date of passage of this resolution and ending on December 31, 2020, subject to the terms
and requirements of the afore-said Code of Iowa and Riverdale City Code.
