A RESOLUTION: PRESENTED October 23, 1985 85-194 ADOPTED October 23, 1985 ENDORSING THE VIRGINIANS OPPOSING DRUNK DRIVING TASK FORCE CONCEPT WHEREAS, 25,000 people are killed and millions more are injured in the United States each year in alcohol related automobile accidents; and WHEREAS, the Loudoun Chapter of Virginians Opposing Drunk Driving (VODD) was established to work on this life threatening problem; and WHEREAS, VODD has requested that a regional task force be established which would require the cooperation and support of Loudoun County, the Town of Leesburg and other Loudoun towns; and WHEREAS, a regional task force will be able to obtain funds from the Small Grant Fund of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles which can be used on programs which will save lives: THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The regional drunk driving task force concept as suggested by VODD is hereby endorsed by the Leesburg Town Council as a positive step in the direction of addressing the drunk driving problem. SECTION II. At least one representative of the Town of Leesburg shall be appointed by the Town Council to serve on the task force when it is established.
