Leesburg Tree Commission to Host
4th Annual Tree Care Summit
Leesburg, VA (February 25, 2011) – The
Leesburg Tree Commission will host the 4th
annual Home Owners Associations Tree Care
Summit on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 7:00
p.m. in the lower level of Ida Lee Park
Recreation Center.
Topics of discussion will include:
The Management of Trees
Specifications: What Are They?
Translating “Landscaper Speak”
Fixing poorly planted trees (new this year!)
Proper planting, staking, mulching and pruning
The primary focus of the summit is to inform and educate the Town’s Home Owners
Associations (HOAs) about and assist them with the care and management of trees on HOA-
held land. According to Jay Banks, the Town’s Urban Forester, HOAs are among the largest
landowners in Leesburg and, therefore, have the greatest opportunity to contribute to the
Town’s Tree Canopy through proper planting and maintenance of trees in their open spaces.
The event is free and open to the general public. To RSVP for the Tree Care Summit, please
email Jay Banks at jbanks@leesburgva.gov.
