HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 66-613RESOLUTION NO. 66 -613 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ENDORSING PROPOSITION W, THE WATER BOND ISSUE SPONSORED BY THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AT THE JUNE 7, 1966, PRIMARY ELECTION AND URGING ALL VOTERS TO SUPPORT THE WATER BOND ISSUE WHEREAS, Proposition W, the $850,000,000 °Water Bond issue to distribute Northern California water in the Southland, will appear on the June 7, 1966, ballot, and WHEREAS, this measure, sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, provides for the construction of a huge new tunnel and pipeline system to deliver more than 2,000,000 acre -feet of water annually to the District's member agencies on the coastal plain, and WHEREAS, the District's population of more than 9,800,000 people is expected to nearly double within 25 years, and JHEREAS, the Water Bonds will help finance works which will provide for our water needs until at least 1990, and WHEREAS, issuance of the bonds is expected to have little, if any, effect on our property tax rate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY that Proposition W, the Water Bond issue, be and it is hereby endorsed, and that every citizen within the Metropolitan Water District be urged to vote YES on this vital measure, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Citizens Water Bond Committee and to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
