RESOLUTION NO. 85-235 ADOPTED December 23~ 1985
A RESOLUTION: APPROVING LEESBURG VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, INC. AS BEING
ORGANIZED PURSUANT TO SECTION 27-8 OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA
AS AMENDED
WHEREAS, Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (LVFD) is a fire fighting
organization formed in accordance with Section 27-8 of the Code of Virginia,
1950 as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council has for many years recognized the
existence of and made contributions to LVFD; and
WHEREAS, the approval of LVFD by the Leesburg Town Council is required
in order for LVFD to receive the benefits of the "Line of Duty Act"
~s provided in Section 15.1-136 et seq of the Code of Virginia, 1950 as
amended; and'
WHEREAS, the Town has always recognized the important contributions made by
the members of LVFD to the Leesburg community and wishes to make available the
benefits of the "Line of Duty Act" as mentioned hereinabove:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is organized pursuant
to Section 27-8 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 as amended, and has the full
authority to appoint a chief and any other officers it may deem appropriate.
SECTION II. The Leesburg Town Council fully recognizes the contributions
made to the Town by the members of Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
