Leesburg, VA (March 10, 2011) – The Town of
Leesburg will kick off its annual “Keep Leesburg
Beautiful” community clean-up and
beautification effort on Saturday, April 2, 2011.
The kick-off event will be held at the Loudoun
County Master Gardeners’ demonstration garden
in Ida Lee Park, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The
Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide
tours of the garden and give gardening
demonstrations. In addition, “Green Team” registration forms and litter collection supplies will
be available for pickup.
Residents, neighborhood and community groups, and businesses are encouraged to get
involved with Keep Leesburg Beautiful by forming “Green Teams” to collect litter, mark storm
drains, replant landscaped areas along the Town’s rights-of-way or participate in other
beautification projects. These activities can occur at any time during the month of April.
Groups and individuals interested in participating can contact the Leesburg Parks & Recreation
Department at 703.737.7146 or gtonge@leesburgva.gov to register their “Green Teams” and
get suggestions for specific projects. For litter collection projects, the Town of Leesburg will
provide safety vests, gloves and trash bags. Registration information and forms are available on
the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/KLB.
In addition, as part of Keep Leesburg Beautiful, the Town will recognize Earth Day and Arbor
Day with special activities, including a tree planting at Raflo Park. Details about these events,
and additional Keep Leesburg Beautiful events and activities as they are scheduled, will be
posted on the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/KLB.
