A RESOLUTION: SYCOLIN ROAD WIDENING PHASE IV WASHINGTON
GAS UTILITY RELOCATION CHANGE ORDER
AUTHORIZATION
WHEREAS, the Sycolin Road Widening Phase IV project required a major gas line
relocation; and
WHEREAS, the Town entered into an agreement with Washington Gas to pay its
share of the relocation of 2.1% or$24,150.00 of the overall cost of$1,150,000.00, the Town's
portion of which was within a Washington Gas easement ; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the 'Washington Gas project increased from
$1,150,000.00 to $4,224,83.28 due to additional time and equipment needed to,complete the
project as well as significantly more rock encountered than anticipated on the project; and
WHEREAS, Town staff have reviewed the overage and finds that the Town must pay
its share of the overage or an additional$64,572.55; and
WHEREAS, this utility overage cost is within the existing approved budget, and no
additional funding is requested; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and Capital Projects recommends approval
of the contract change order. .
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Town Manager is authorized to execute a change order in the amount of$64,572.55 to
increase the contract with Washington Gas for the relocation of a gas main as part of the Sycolin
Road Widening Phase IV project.
