Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth League Donates $5,000 to
Leesburg For New Batting Cages At Robinson Park
Leesburg, VA (March 11, 2011) – The Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth League recently donated
$5,000 to the Town of Leesburg’s Parks & Recreation Department for the construction of new
batting cages at Robinson Park.
According to John Gantt, with the Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth League, the League’s Board of
Directors voted in October 2010 to make donations to Leesburg and Loudoun County for the
batting cages and other field improvements. In addition to the $5,000 given to the Town of
Leesburg, the League also donated $5,000 to Loudoun County for field improvements at
county-owned baseball fields.
“Over the years, the League has been the beneficiary of many generous donations and, when
able, we have set aside funds for equipment and facility improvements. The addition of batting
cages at Robinson Park will provide the Town and the League with better training facilities,”
Gantt said.
“Combined with our recent installation of a grass infield on the baseball field, the new batting
cages at Robinson Park will significantly raise the level of the facilities there,” said Rich Williams,
Leesburg’s Director of Parks & Recreation. “The Town values the commitment and investments
made by organizations like the Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth League. These partnerships allow
the Town to provide a higher quality sports environment for everyone.”
The Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth League was founded in 1956 and provides instructional and
competitive baseball programs for all Loudoun County youth ages 13 to 18. For more
