A special meeting (duiy published according to law) was held on
February 6, 1967 as a public hearing on the assessment roll of the
N. E. 34th Street L. I. D. #1. This meeting was held by the Council
of the Town of Yarrow Point who acted as a Board of Equalization on
the above -mentioned assessment roll. The meeting was held at 9:00 P. M.
at the Town office. Those in attendance were John Helsell, Mayor;
Councilmen Joseph Harlacher, Jack Nichols and Harvey Rhoades; Engineer
Glen Sparrow, Clerk Lorraine Diede; and Richard Sandaas, Henry Ronberg
and Cana Numoto.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
A letter of protest from Wallace and Doris Taylor dated February 6, 1967
requesting that they be excluded from the assessment roll was read to
the council.
After discussion by the council, a motion was made by Jack Nichols,
seconded by Joseph Harlacher and passed unanimously that the assessment
roll be modified to reduce W. T. Taylor's assessment by 40% or from
$953.30 to 0571.98, pending bond attorney's approval. It was agreed
that the difference of $381.32 would be derived from the Administrative
charges now included in the assessment roll by the Town, and that no
change would be made in the balance of the assessment roll.
T,.,e above was the only protest received.
The mayor then asked Mr. Sandaas if he wished to comment on a letter
directed to the council by him dated February 6, 1967, not protesting
to the assessment against his property but to the costs Included in the
assessment roll, particularly those from the Town Engineer, Town Attorney
and Bond Attorney and the Administrative costs. It was explained to him
that the Town Engineer and the Town Attorney only included the amounts
in their statements that pertained to the finalization of this particular
L. I. D. The Bond Attorney felt that the $800.00 charged by them was
much below the time they had given to this L. I. D. Mr. Sandaas indicated
166 was satisfied with the explanation:,.;--__.
