A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE SUBMITTAL OF THE DESIGN PLANS TO THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE IRELAND AVENUE EXTENSION PROJECT
STP -U-7662(608)-70-52 JOHNSON COUNTY AND THE APPROVAL OF TIF FUNDS TO ASSIST
IN THE FINANCING OF PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa desires to extend Ireland Avenue from the current road at the
Iowa Interstate Railroad crossing north to create an intersection with Federal Highway 6, a east to west
Highway, that currently connects with Roberts Ferry Rd on the north side of Hwy 6.
WHEREAS, a portion of Hwy 6 east and west of future intersection and Roberts Ferry Rd, a portion of W
Third, Railroad and College Streets will be included in the project for improvements to include streets,
sidewalks, water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer and private property driveways.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin has requested the amount of $430,000 of Federal Funds to assist in
the planning, designing and construction of the said street.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin desires to use TIF Funds for the property acquisitions and construction
of the Project.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin has solicited Hart Frederick Consultants to design a plan of said
project.
THEREFORE, IT IS NOW AGREED the City of Tiffin, Iowa will now approve the Design Plan for the Ireland
Avenue Extension Project and will instruct Hart Frederick Consultants to submit the plans to the Iowa
Department of Transportation and the City of Tiffin will await for approval to proceed with the appraisals of such
property and / or the acquisition of properties needed for the project. The City Council of Tiffin, Iowa does
authorize the use of TIF Funds to finance in part the property appraisal and acquisition, planning, designing,
legal fees and construction of said Project.
Motion made by Councilperson Travis Weipert seconded by Councilperson Jim Bartels to adopt and approve
Resolution 2010-61.
AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mark Petersen, Travis Weipert
NAY: None
ABSENT: Mike Gericke
Whereupon four votes having voted Aye, Mayor Phillips declared the Resolution 2010-61 A RESOLUTION TO
APPROVE THE SUBMITTAL OF THE DESIGN PLANS TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE IRELAND AVENUE EXTENSION PROJECT STP -U-7662(608)-70-52
JOHNSON COUNTY AND THE APPROVAL OF TIF FUNDS TO ASSIST IN THE FINANCING OF PROJECT
be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
