201.3 SUBJECT: FAMILIES, PARKS & RECREATION BOARD - ORGANIZATION
AND POLICY
:1 OBJECTIVE:
Provide an advisory body to the Mayor and City Council on matters pertaining to the
Families, Parks & Recreation Department.
:2 AUTHORITY:
This procedure amended by City Council July 19, 2004, Item A6.
:3 DIRECTION:
Mayor and City Council
:4 FUNCTIONS:
A. Parks Division- to advise the Mayor and City Council as to the proper care and
management of all City parks (except the Harry P. Leu Botanical Gardens) and trees,
and make appropriate recommendations to the Mayor and City Council.
B. Recreation Division - to consult with, advise and assist the Mayor and City Council in
establishing a City-wide comprehensive program of supervised recreation in its
broadest sense, with special emphasis on youth including, but not limited to, athletics,
playgrounds, social programs, special programs, aquatics, recreation centers, golf
courses, senior centers and activities for the entertainment of both residents and
visitors.
C. Subcommittees - to create as many subcommittees as the Board deems appropriate,
subject to approval by the Mayor.
D. Rules and Regulations - to adopt rules and regulations for the guidance of the
Board, provided the same are consistent with applicable Ordinances and policies of
the City and Florida Statutes.
