Leesburg Launches Online Option to Start or Stop
Water and Sewer Service
Leesburg, VA (April 11, 2011) – Leesburg’s Finance Department recently launched a function on
the Town’s website that allows customers to start or stop water and sewer service online. The
new feature is part of a series of planned website enhancements to improve customer service
through smarter use of technology.
Customers wishing to start or stop service or update their account information can visit
www.leesburgva.gov/index.aspx?page=185 and complete an online form. The form can be
accessed through the “Quick Links” menu at the top of the Town’s website as well. Requests
received before 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday will be processed on the next business day.
Requests received after 3:00 p.m. on Friday or over the weekend will be processed within two
business days.
“We are focused on giving our customers every opportunity to transact business with the Town
without the necessity of coming into Town Hall or playing ‘phone tag’,” explained Norm Butts,
Leesburg’s Director of Finance. “Happily, this new Internet-accessible feature is one more step
in that direction.”
The new online service has proven to be popular with customers already. Within two weeks of
launching the online request form, over 100 customers submitted requests. Currently, about
half of all start/stop requests are received via the new online form.
