RESOLUTION
APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret ("Borough") and the Carteret Policeman's
Benevolent Association, Local #47 and the Carteret Superior Officers'
Associations ("Associations") are parties to a collective bargaining agreement, the
terms of which will expire on December 31, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations have identified an area of mutual
concern in need of modification prior to the process of collective negotiations for
a successor agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations have discussed and agreed upon
the specific area to be modified; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations have reached a tentative
agreement relative to said terms and conditions as are related thereto; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations desire to memorialize their
agreement with regard to said terms and conditions, so that the same may be
incorporated and become a part of the current collective bargaining agreement
between the parties.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it hereby agreed by and between the Borough and the
Associations as follows:
The parties hereto shall enter into a memorandum of agreement in
the form annexed.
The appropriate Borough Officials are authorized to execute and
implement said memorandum of agreement.

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "BOrOUgh") and the Ca~teret
POliceman's Benevolent Association, LOCal NO. 47 and the Carteret Superior
Officers' ASSOCiation (the "Associations") are parties to a collective
bargaining agreement, the terms of which will expire on December 31,
2002; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations have identified an area
of mutual concern in need of modification prior to the process of
collective negotiations for a successor agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations have discussed and
agreed upon the specific area to be modified; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the ASSociations have reached a
tentative agreement relative to said terms and conditions as are related
thereto; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Associations are desirous of
amending and codifying said terms and tonallY:ions as are related thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT I$ HEREBY AGREED, by and between
the 8orough and the Associations as follows:
1. Article Xll, "Grievance Procedure", Section 8,
Step 2, (b) and (c), shall be modified so as to insert
the words "or, at the diSCretion of the Mayor and
Council, the Police Committee" following the words
"Mayor and council".
2.The foregoing modification shall take affect
immediately.
The BorOugh Council shall make any and all necessary
amendments, modifications, changes and alterations .~.

to all appropriate ordinances, Resolutions, COdes,
Rules and Regulations, in accordance With the
provisions Of all applicable State and local statutes,
codes and ordinances, as soon as possible, only to
the extent that the same may be required to
implement the ~erms and conditions of this
Memorandum of Agreement.
The modifications and/or changes contained tlerein
constitute the OnlV changes to the Master Contract
as agreed to between the parties. All other terms
and condition of the Master Contract shall
continue in full force and affect unless specifically
modified herein.
