A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF A RESPONSE TO THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES'
RFP TO SUPPORT IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CITY'S PLAN TO PREVENT AND
COMBAT HOMELESSNESS
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved funding for the Cities'
Homelessness Planning Grants on June 13, 2017;
WHEREAS, the City of Carson applied to, and received a grant from, the County to develop a
Plan (Plan) to Prevent and Combat Homelessness;
WHEREAS, the Carson Homeless Planning Process Committee developed a Plan and the Carson
City Council subsequently adopted it through Resolution No. 18-097 on July 17, 2018;
WHEREAS, on September 4, 2018, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved $9
million in Measure H funding to implement specific components of the participating cities' homelessness
plans.
WHEREAS, the County Homeless Initiative and the United Way Home for Good Funders
Collaborative released a competitive RFP for implementation funding on September 14, 2018, "2018
Cities Homelessness Plan Implementation Request For Proposals":
WHEREAS, the City would benefit from funding to implement components of its Plan;
WHEREAS, the due date for applications from the forty-one eligible cities is November 7, 2018;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carson, California, does hereby FIND and
DETERMINE, and based thereon, APPROVES the submission of a competitive application for funding in
response to this RFP:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this reference; and
2. A grant from the County will assist the City to begin to implement its Plan and address
homelessness issues in the City;
PASSED and APPROVED this 16th day of October, 2018.
