HomeMy Public PortalAbout1953-04-20 Meetingprov The Council of Bal Harbour Village met at the Administration Build- ing, Monday, April 20, 1953 at 8;00 o'clock P. M. There were present:. Messrs. Beatty, Brown, Stokely and Dr. Leonard Absent: Mr. Simons Also present were W. H. Webb,, Village.Managerg and Mary Wetterer,. Village Clerk. The minutes of the previous meeting of March 23rd were read and on motion of Mr. Brown, seconded by Ni. Beatty were approved. . The minutes of the special meeting of April.2nd were read and ap- MMr: Stokely said .that at the special meeting it was agreed to spend up to,$100.00 ee our`shere:.to fight the City of.Miami - Dade County Consoli- dation bill. However, under the present errangement.it was decided to tax each municipality at four cents'per capita with a minimum of $200.00. There - Upon on motion of Dr. Leonard, seconded by Mr. Beatty, it was unanimously voted to send our check for $200.00. Mr. Webb,reported that Mr. Graham had gone to'Detroit for a meet- ing and that as yet they had no.word on the cost of the land for the village hall. The Village Clerk then informed the council that the slate for,the election of May 5th consisted of John F. Beatty, Harry A. Brown, and Charles R. Collins. A;.list of, the registered voters in Bal"Harbour was submitted to the council for approval and aftiOr consideration on.motion of Mr. Brown, sec- onded by Dr. Leonard, the list was unanimously approved with .the exception of Mildred Y. Campbell. The Clerk was then instructed to contact Mrs. Campbell and determine if there was apy reason why her name .should not be removed from the list. The audit for the village first six months' operation was presented to the council. After consideration, on motion of Mr. Bro4g, seconded by Dr. Leonard, the audit was approved. Mr. Webb said the Florida League of Municipalities had sent copies of various proposed bills to come before the Legislature and after considera- tion it was decided to refer the bill regarding suits against municipalities to Mr. Baisden.
