A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING POLICE CANINE
TO PUTNAM COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle owns a police canine which has been trained with officer Kyle Lee;
WHEREAS, Officer Kyle Lee has been hired by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, a law enforcement
agency and governmental entity within Putnam County, Indiana.
WHEREAS, it is difficult to retrain a police canine with a new officer, and the Putnam County Sheriffs Department
has a need for the police canine for the purpose of assisting law-enforcement personnel in their work; and

WHEREAS,the Putnam County Sheriffs Department has offered to purchase the canine for$.e06, pursuant to
Indiana Code 36-1-11-8;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE hereby transfers ownership of the
City's police canine to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department in exchange for$37eee60. 3,250,00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Putnam County Sheriffs Department and officer Kyle Lee shall make all
reasonable efforts to assist the Greencastle Police Department with the canine on traffic stops, other matters where drugs
are suspected, and special events, upon request by the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Putnam County Sheriffs Department, acknowledges and the City of
Greencastle hereby transfers the canine on the condition that the City makes no warranty whatsoever regarding the
canine and the Putnam County Sheriffs Department takes ownership of said canine"as is" and shall hold the City
harmless and indemnify the City for any liability, including court costs and attorneys'fees, arising from this transfer and
any actions of the canine following the transfer of ownership.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular meeting this
