City Planner Hugie stated that the current ordinance reflected the changes discussed previously by the Council with the exception of the side setback, which had been changed from one foot to three feet due to fire code. Grand County Building Inspector Jeff Whitney stated that due to Uniform Building Code, in order to build within less than three feet of a property line there needed to be a one hour fire -rated wall on the property line side and that the current ordinance defined a carport to be open on three sides which would not meet that requirement. Building Inspector Whitney stated that the options were to change the definition of a carport to open on two sides, which would allow building within one foot of the property line, or changing the ordinance to restrict building to within three feet of the property line.
