EarthWorks Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Leesburg, VA (April 27, 2011) – At 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2011, Town of Leesburg
officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of EarthWorks, located at
521-H East Market Street in the Bellewood Commons Shopping Center. Mayor Kristen C.
Umstattd will officiate.
EarthWorks is a retail gift shop and art gallery featuring hand-made items including art,
photography, wood crafts, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, candles, bath and body products and
organic herbal teas. EarthWorks’ mission is to offer beautiful products with an eye towards
responsible and sustainable products and materials, while supporting local artists and
craftsmen.
“EarthWorks’ business concept to provide retail customers with high-quality arts and crafts
products while at the same time offering a marketplace for local artisans is unique in our
community,” commented Marantha Edwards, Leesburg’s Economic Development Manager.
“The shop further supports the momentum for growing the arts community here in Leesburg.”
“The response we have seen from customers and artists alike during our first few weeks in
Leesburg has been very exciting,” said EarthWorks Co-Owner Penni Walker. “We are very
proud to announce the grand opening of our store in Leesburg with items from more than a
dozen local artists and craftsmen.”
