Keep Leesburg Beautiful Month Concludes with Tree Planting
Ceremony at Raflo Park on Friday, April 29, 2011
Leesburg, VA (April 28, 2011) – The Town of Leesburg’s annual month-long “Keep Leesburg
Beautiful” community clean up and beautification campaign will conclude with a tree planting
ceremony at Raflo Park on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.
Staff have selected five new trees to be planted at Raflo Park – two multi-trunk River Birches,
two Black Gum trees and one October Glory Maple. The October Glory Maple will replace a
dying Silver Maple that was removed earlier this week from near the park gazebo. The tree
planting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., and staff hope to plant four of the five trees,
depending on ground conditions.
“This year’s Keep Leesburg Beautiful campaign saw a great response from the community,” said
Gregg Tonge, the Town’s Parks Manager and this year’s KLB chair. “In particular, the Town’s
HOAs did a terrific job of organizing clean-up activities within their neighborhoods. Despite the
rainy weather, the level of community participation was just outstanding.”
Preliminary counts indicate that more than two dozen groups, including HOAs, churches,
schools, businesses and civic organizations, completed clean-up and beautification projects
throughout Town.
