A RESOLUTION: PRESENTED March 9~ 1988 88-47 ADOPTED March 9~ 1988 INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO THE SIGN ORDINANCE REGARDING SIGNS FOR MULTIPLE BUSINESSES ON A SINGLE ZONING LOT WHEREAS, the current sign regulations unduly restrict the location of wall signs for individual businesses located in a multi-business complex; and WHEREAS, a simple amendment to these regulations will make the regula- tions more equitable without negating the positive aspects of the town's sign control program; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendment will serve the interests of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice: THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. An amendment of Article 8A - Sign Regulations of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance is initiated to revise Section 8A-17(c)(§) to read as follows: (6) Wall Signs: One per establishment having an individual outside entrance; l~cated abov~ entrance ~f individual e~tab!i~b_~ent~, and harmonious with other wall signs as to color and lettering. The size shall be limited to one square foot per linear foot of building frontage for the establishment, up to a maximum of 100 square feet. SECTION II. A public hearing shall be held on this legislation beginning at 7:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be reached on April 27, 1988 in the Council Chambers, 10 Loudoun Street, S.W., Leesburg, Virginia. In line with Section 15.1-431 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, this hearing shall be a joint public hearing of both Planning Commission and Council. The clerk shall publish notice of this hearing and the Council's intention to consider the amendments in the Loudoun Times-Mirror on April 14, INITIATING AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE RE: SIGNS 2 and April 21, 1988, and shall advise the Planning Commission of the purpose, time and date of the hearing. SECTION III. The Planning Commission shall report its recommendations to the Town Council on the proposed amendments within thirty days of the public hearing. PASSED this 9th day of March , 1988.
