Transition Triathlon Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2011
Leesburg, VA (May 9, 2011) –Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on
Saturday, May 14, 2011, for the grand opening of Transition Triathlon, located at 222 S. King
Street, Suite 1, in Historic Downtown Leesburg. Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will officiate, and
the ceremony that begins at 11:00 a.m.
Owned by accomplished triathletes and husband and wife, Steve Makranczy and Alex Korab,
the mission of Transition Triathlon is to help those who want to challenge themselves through
multi‐sport training and racing. The store features a retail showroom where customers can
shop for the latest running and swimming apparel, as well as triathlon accessories. Visitors can
access the store directly from the W&OD Trail and relax in one of the cozy Adirondack chairs
while replenishing themselves with a cold drink, Power Bar or other nutritional supplement.
In addition to the retail component, there are plans to offer free clinics for aspiring and curious
athletes and a studio where athletes can join off season training and “Fancy Stretching” (athlete
yoga) classes. The first clinic, “Intro to Triathlon” is scheduled for May 21st at 4:00 p.m.
“We cater to the users of the bike trail with drinks and snacks as well as those who arrive in
cars,” said co‐owner Alex Korab. “We want to become the place where triathletes can find all
the gear they need, or just stop in for a break from their bike ride or run and hang out for a
while.”
