HomeMy Public PortalAboutPAGE 11 (Called meetin( 7/7/21 ) 1 I the 34 connections with the new school house of 14 horse power motors added. Add to the above estimate our debt of .12,000.00 in outstanding warrants and unpaid bills and it will be seen that, a bond issue of about 30,000.00 will be necessary to continue the operation of the municipal plant. wrom 7ngineer DuVall ' s report on his inspection and tests of the plant, it is shown conclusively that it is not of sufficient capacity to pull all the light and power connection in the town: that we are going behind at a rate of over 400.00 per month, taking into consideration interest and depreciation,as well as labor, fuel and re- pairs. Mr.DuVall is assistant to the Dean of k:ngineering et the State University at Boulder. Dean - vans of that institution has checked and approved the report. These men represent an institution of un- questionable standing and they assure us that this report will stand as authentic before any board of engineers. This report is on file in the Clerk' s office for inspection by citizens and taxpayers. The Town Eoard has spent considerable time in arriving at what it considers the best solution of the problem. We have obtained an offer of $10,000.00 for the distribution system from the qome Gas and Taectric Company. -his does not include engines or generators at the station. If the people favor accepting this offer the above a- mount will greatly relieve the strained condition of the towns credit. '-lor an expenditure of F1,000.00 we can install a estinghouse autom- atic motor for pumping our water. This system will not require the services Of a man at the pumphouse ,as the Town marshall making occasion- al trips to oil the pumps is all that is required. An average expense of e'100.00 for electric power will furnish our :resent ample supply of water, and enable us to reduce our water rates, which we feel should be done as soon as possible. Should the town refuse to accept the above offer to sell and attempt to continue the light plant, it will be necessary to apply to the tate utilities commission for an increase in rates on light and power. eates filed with the commission show that town s the size of Ault are charging from 14,-/ to 20(/ per kilowatt, and in some instances have a P2.50 per month minimum charge for lights, it is not reason- able to expect that Ault can do differently from the average torn of its size. The board is very desirous of having the citizens united as nearly as possible upon this question and ,after many hours spent in consultation with former officials of the toen as well as interest- ed citizens,we do not hesitate to ask your support for the plan out- lined in the coming special election, our greatest desire is to put the business of the town upon a basis that is more nearly the stand- ard of municipalities the size of Ault. e invite the citizens of the town to meet with the board on Friday evening,July 15th at the Armory, that we may make clear any doubts that may exist as to the feasibility of the plan we have outlined. ey order of the Board of Trustees of the Town of eult this 7th day of euly,1921.
