HomeMy Public PortalAbout06 Appendix II Special AppropriationJ Appendix II • SPECIAL APPROPRIATION SUMMARY This appendix briefly summarizes certain special and unusual appropriations which may be singular in their impact on the budget for 1981/82 or that they may have special interest to you because of their unique nature. Most, but not all, of the appropriations needed for these activities are included in the budget. If for some reason I have not included them, then that will be noted in the right hand margin. APPROPRIATIONS Acct 4103 City Clerk 170 - Professional Services. The cost associated with this appropriation is for the municipal election to be held in March, 1982 and possibly a special election in November of 1981 to address the question of a housing referendum. Acct 4105 Administrative Services 030 - Part-time employment. This is to cover vacations and unscheduled leaves of absence. Acct 4106 Finance/Treasurer 010 - Salaries You will note that a token payment of City Treasurer. I have set aside $1,200 for the year for $100 per month for Henry Sherman, our Acct 4117 General Government Activities 120 - Insurance This account is subject to modification because of a current re-evaluation of our insurance coverage. 181 - Training This is the second year of our in-service training and education program and seems to be working well. 220 - Contract Services Riverside Sheriff's Department costs have increased from $214,970 to $248,175 which is approximately 15%. 220 - Chamber of Commerce I have set aside $26,000 for support to the Chamber of Commerce, down from the previous allocation of $36,000. 0 Appendix II • Acct 4122 Community Services 030 - Part-time positions This appropriation will cover seasonal and overtime costs. 172 - Professional Services We have appropriated $20,000 for public works inspection. More than 75% of this appropriation will be reimbursed to the City through fees and charges. Acct 4123 Planning 010 - Salaries You will note that two positions remain open in the Planning. Department. We intend to fund the positions but not fill them until the workload requires additional positions. 220 - Contract Services We have appropriated $15,000 for Rancho Mirage's share of the Master Environmental Assessment program through CVAG. Acct 4124 Building and Safety 010 - Salaries The salaries as appropriated in this account reflect the decrease in personnel which has been achieved through a layoff • procedure during the 1980/81 fiscal year. Acct 4126 Public Works/Building and Grounds 420 - These improvements will compliment the City Hall and will provide modifications to the Council Chamber and other minor modifications as needed. 440 - Improvements I have appropriated $5,000 to complete the landscaping along the east side of City Hall. We will continue the same landscaping theme. Acct 4127 Public Works/Streets 010 - Salaries From previous comments noted elsewhere, you will note that we have increased 1/2 of a position and created another full-time Street Maintenance Worker. 360 - Street related activities - street projects: 1. The reconstruction and overlay in the Kersten Road area. 2. Overlay and slurrey seal in the area of 39th and Peterson Rd. 3. Other streets as needed. 0
