BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MAY 9 , 1987
I. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula
Regional Open Space District was called to order by President Richard
Bishop at 8 : 50 A.M. on Saturday, May 9, 1987 in the upper parking lot
of Rancho San Antonio County Park. R. Bishop explained that , the
the pur-
pose of the meeting was a field trip with Santa Clara County government
officials and members of the public to various District lands in Santa
Clara County and that no action would be taken.
Members Present: Richard Bishop, Katherine Duffy, Teena Henshaw,
Daniel Wendin, and Gerry Andeen.
Members Absent: Nonette Hanko and Edward Shelley,
Personnel Present: Herbert Grench, Craig Britton, David Hansen, James
Boland, Mary Hale, Jean Fiddes, Del Woods, John Escobar, David Camp,
Joyce Nicholas, Joan Combs, Matthew Ken, Kerry Carlson and Tom Lausten.
II. TOUR OF DISTRICT LANDS
The bus tour' s first stop was the Monte Bello and Los Trancos Open Space
Preserves. Participants walked to the vista point at Monte Bello Open
Space Preserve and on a portion of Los Trancos Open Space Preserve ' s
Earthquake Trail. The tour headed south on Skyline Boulevard to Route 9 ;
other District sites were pointed out and information about the District
was provided along the route. A luncheon was served at the Picchetti
Ranch Area of the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve after Ronald and Rolayne
Stortz led a tour of the historic winery complex. Following the lunch,
attendees from the District, the Santa Clara County Park and Recreation
Department, other jurisdictions, and the general public introduced them-
selves.
III . ADJOURNMENT
A few participants toured the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve after
tlie luncheon. The buses returned from the Picchetti Ranch Area to
the parking lot at San Antonio County Park at 2 : 00 P .M. and the meeting
was adjourned.
