Leesburg’s Business Appreciation Award Winners Announced
The Town of Leesburg is pleased to announce the winners and honorable
mentions for the 10th Annual Business Appreciation Awards.
Leesburg, VA (May 18, 2011) – The Leesburg Economic Development Commission is proud to
announce the winners & honorable mentions of the 2011 Business Appreciation Awards,
presented at the 10th annual Business Appreciation Reception on May 17, 2011, in the ProJet
Aviation Hangar at the Leesburg Executive Airport. Congratulations to all of the winners,
honorable mentions and nominees.
The winners & honorable mentions in the ten award categories are:
New Business Award - Celebrates a new business started within the last 3 years that, while
respectful of Leesburg’s past, represents the best of the Town’s future.
Winner: ProJet Aviation
Honorable Mention: King Pinz
Heritage Award - Celebrates a thriving business that has made a long-term commitment to
preserving the integrity and character of Leesburg’s Historic Downtown.
Winner: The Lightfoot Restaurant
Honorable Mention: Caulkins Jewelers
Ambassador Award - Celebrates a business or organization that has fostered a positive image
of Leesburg as a business location or tourist destination.
Winner: The Pink Shop & Very Virginia Shop
Honorable Mention: Comfort Suites – Leesburg
Innovations Award - Celebrates a business that has brought recognition to Leesburg through
creative marketing efforts, innovative business ventures and/or unique product development.
Winner: Stilson Greene Graphic Design & Illustration

Environmental Award - Celebrates a business that conducts or participates in activities that
benefit the environment through its business practices and policies on an on-going basis.
Winner: Lindsay’s Salon
Honorable Mention: Solar4Leesburg
Home-Based Business Award - Celebrates the owner of an independent product- or service-
based business, operated from a residence located within Leesburg, who serves as a small
business advocate with the business community.
Winner: T’s Dog Training
Honorable Mention: Sweetz Bakery
Public Art Award - Celebrates a business that makes a contribution to the development of the
Town’s public art program, or actively supports the arts within the Town of Leesburg.
Winner: Medlin Art, LTD
Honorable Mention: Jingle Jam
Community Steward Award - Celebrates a for-profit business that participates actively in the
community by contributing its resources.
Winner: Leesburg Station Auto Wash
Honorable Mention: AH&T Insurance
The George C. Marshall Award - Celebrates an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary
commitment to the community above and beyond business contributions.
Winner: Kevin Malone
Honorable Mention: Dr. Kathleen Saylor
Rising Star Award – Given by the Leesburg Economic Development Commission to celebrate a
business which has been in operation for less than one year, yet has already set itself apart
from other businesses through its exemplary achievements.
