APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NOETHERN VIRGINIA
PLANNING DISTRICT COMMISSION TO ~Am,TsH A REGIONAL
SOT,m WASTE MANAGEM~.NT PROGRAM
To effectively provide long term planning and regional coordination for solid waste
~ a solid waste management planning program has been e~hli.hed which will be .dmini~red
by the Northern V'u~inia Planning Diztriet Commi~ion (NVPDC); and
WHEREAS, NVPDC will eoordln~te the solid waste planning and m~n~_oement activities with
the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG); and
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Agreement has been prepared setting forth the O ~l'~ni-~LiOIl~
and m~n%oement structure to accomplish the m~er planning effort; and
WttEREAS, the Town of Leesburg is in the Northern V'uginia Planning District and will have
a representative on the proposed Northern ~r~r~ni~ Waste Management Board and Northern
Waste Management Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, ~u'ticipation in the planning process for a Regional Solid Waste Management
Program will benefit Leesburg and dispozal of solid waste:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in V'u-ginia as follows:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is authorized to sign the Memorandum of Agreement as
approved by the town attorney.
