A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING THE 1989 BLUE RIDGE TO THE WHITE HOUSE WHEELCHAIR
RACE OF CHAMPIONS
WHEREAS, the 1989 Blue Ridge to the White House Wheelchair Race of Chsmpions is scheduled
for 8:00 ~.n~ to 1:00 p.m. on May 1, 1989; and
WHEREAS, the race will follow the W&OD Bike Trail from Purcellville to Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, the racers will poss through Leesburg around 8:45 o~m.; and
WHEREAS, race officials have coordinated the control of the route through town with the police
chief; and
WHEREAS, ten of the finest wheelchair road racing athletes in the world will be competing for
the benefit of Grafton School, a residential educationo] facility for seriously handicapped children and
Shalom et Benedictus, a drug and alcohol treatment facility for adolescents:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The Blue Ridge to Washington, D.C. Wheelchair Race of Champions is hereby heartily endorsed
and volunteers and sponsors of the worthy event are commended.

NATIONAL NURSING HOME WEEK
PROCLAMATION
Whereas, Leesb~g's Heritage Hall Health Care residents have co~buted
immeasurably to the history and cu~e of our commnulty; and
Whereas, nursing home residents can continue to make a contribution to
the community; and
Whereas, n~rsing home residents need ongoing social conta~s in order to
lead meaning ful lives:
Now, Therefore, I Mayor Robert Sevlla of the town of Leesburg, Vl~ginia,
do hereby proclaim May 15-19 as
Nat~nal N~sing Home Week
and call upon all ~tizens to join in the observance of this occasion by
participating in the a~tivities of H~ge Hall Heath Care as a Visible
sign that we remember and that we care.
