HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 67-707RESOLUTION NO. 67 -707 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, ADOPTING THE UNIFORM STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION, 1967 EDITION: WHEREAS, members of the Southern California Chapters of the American Public Works Association and the Associated General Con- tractors of America working as a committee have compiled a new uniform Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, and WHEREAS, such uniformity of Standards will serve to mini- mize conflict and confusion in public works construction and will tend to lower construction costs for future public works projects through competitive bidding by private contractors, and WHEREAS, the City has been using the Standard Specifications of the County Engineer and County Road Department in contract specifications prepared by the County offices for City projects, and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have adopted the "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construc- tion" as the general specifications for all County public works projects, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City resolves that: 1. The uniform "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, 1967 Edition," prepared by the APWA - AGC Joint Committee of Southern California, be adopted as the standard specifications covering all future public works construction within the City of Temple City. 2. The City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the County Road Commissioner and to the County Engineer. PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 7th day of March, 1967. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution passed and adopted by the City Council, City of Temple City, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of March, 1967. 1038 CITY OF TEMPLE CITY A PROCLAMATION INTERNATIONAL DEMOLAY WEEK March 12 - 19, 1967 WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay is a character building organization composed of young men fourteen to twenty-one years of age, who are seeking to prepare themselves as better leaders and citizens for tomorrow by developing those traits and strengths of character of all good men; and WHEREAS, the organization was founded by Frank S. Land during the year 1919, at Kansas City, Missouri, and now has more than 2,500 chapters located all over the free world; and WHEREAS, all the DeMolay members of Temple City chapter, sponsored by Temple City Masonic Lodge #612, will observe the period of March 12 - 19 as "DeMolay Week" in celebration of their 48th Anniversary, so as to exemplify to all citizens here and elsewhere their many activities, and in some small way show recognition to their many Senior DeMolays; now THEREFORE, I, Jack R. Tyrell, Mayor of the City of Temple City, do hereby proclaim the week of March 12 to March 19, 1967, as "DeMolay Week," and call upon all our citizens to join in saluting the young men of the Order of DeMolay and in express- ing our grateful appreciation of the fine examples set by these young leaders in contributing to the welfare and character of other young men in this City, thus aiding in the development and leadership of tomorrow.
