1. Call to Order and Introduction of Members, Council Liaison and Staff
The meeting was called to order at 5:25 p.m. by Mr. Lester.
2. Approval of Agenda
Mr. Higgins made a motion to approve the agenda. Mr. Couty second.
3. Approval of Minutes from the Regular Meeting of December 15, 2015
Mr. Higgins made a motion to approve the minutes. Mr. Couty second.
4. Presentation from Invited Guest: Janice McMillan, Director of Planning & Protective
Services
Mrs. McMillan gave an update to the commission on the city wide trash contract beginning June
1, 2016.
5. Recycling Update
Ms. Henry gave an update on recycling programs. The commission requested that information
be gathered from the local Newstribune about how many tons of newsprint they use per year and
if there has been a decrease in the amount printed. The commission is interested in finding out
what kind of reduction in waste is happening around the city.
6. Environmental Outreach and Education
Ms. Henry gave an update on the current activities going on regarding recycling/solid waste
including the annual spring clean-up, household hazardous waste, and advertisements regarding
city recycling that were to be printed.
7. New Business
Ms. Henry and Mrs. McMillan discussed adjusting the commission's direction and activities at the
request of the Mayor. At the next meeting, the new direction will be discussed.

There was no old business.
9. Adjourn
Ms. Barkhaus made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Higgins second. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
