A RESOLUTION: 89-256 PRESENTED December 12, 1989 ADOPTED December 12, 1989 INITIATING AN AMENDMENT OF THE LEESBURG ZONING DISTRICT MAP TO EXPAND THE H-1 OLD AND HISTORIC LEESBURG DISTRICT WHEREAS, the properties being proposed for h,clnsion into the Old and Historic Leesburg District contain architecturally and historically significant or compatible buildings such that their preservation would be warranted and would contribute to the public welfare of the Town of Leesbur~, and WHEREAS, the preservation of the buildings in the proposed expansion area would be of educational benefit to Leesburg's citizens; and WHEREAS, a majority of the property owners support the expansion of the Old and Historic District; and WHEREAS, approval of the proposed Old and I:'[istoric Leesburg District expansion would further the purpose and intent of Leesburg's Hkstoric District Regulations Town Plan goals: THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. An amendment of the Leesburg Zoning District Map is initiated by the Town of Leesburg to include 406-426 South King Street, 305-430 West Market Street, 6 Wilson Avenue, 10-102 Morven Park Road, and 9 and 21 Ayr Street within the Old and Leesburg Historic District, H-1 zoning district overlay. SECTION II. This amendment of the Leesburg Zoning District Map is referred to the Planning Commi~ion for public hearing and recommendation under Chapter II, Title 15.1.'., of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended. The Planning Commission s ~hall report its recc,mmendation to the Town Council on the proposed amendment within 30 days of the pablic hearing. SECTION 13/. As per Section 3B-8 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance, the Board of Architectural Review shall make its recommendation to the Town Council prior to adoption.
