A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY URGING PRIORITY FOR THE LANDSCAPING
OF THE SAN GABRIEL RIVER FREEWAY, ROUTE 605
WHEREAS, the landscaping effect or lack of it on the San Gabriel
River Freeway, Route 605, is of critical interest to the City of
Temple City in the City's attempts at self - beautification in order
to create an environment conducive to residential development and
use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of landscap-
ing on freeways to the development of a favorable environment for
the community; and
WHEREAS, ornamental freeway landscaping is consistent with and
would substantially advance established community objectives, would
reduce the fumes, dust and noise resulting from the traffic on such
freeway and alleviate the annoyance caused thereby to the residents
living adjacent thereto; and
WHEREAS, community aesthetic programs are already in operation
and would complement and be complemented by an ornamental freeway
landscaping program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Temple City does hereby urge that the State Division of
Highways give top priority to the landscaping of the San Gabriel
River Freeway (Route 605).
