Wilde seeks
House seat
BY TOM GROTE
The Star -News
Gayle Wilde of McCall an-
nounced on Monday that she will
seek election to a seat in the
Idaho House from District 9.
Wilde, a Republican, said she
will seek the seat now held by
Kep. , \Lydia Justice Edwards,
R- Donnelly, who announced last
week that she was running for the
office of Idaho State Treasurer.
Wilde, 44, and her husband,
Ralph, retired recently from the
Chevron distributorship in Mc-
Call.
She is an Idaho native, a
graduate of the University of
California at Los Angeles, and
has lived in Valley County for
nearly 19 years.
Wilde said she was encouraged
by Edwards and others to run,
and she said she believes she can
do a good job representing
District 9, which includes Valley,
Adams, Gem and Boise counties.
"I favor letting the people vote
on the lottery issue, and I am for
promoting Idaho for tourism and
economic development, and good
educational and transportation
systems, which also help attract
businesses to the state," Wilde
_ said.
She is vice president and
treasurer of the Valley County
Republican Central Committee
and has been precinct commit -
teeperson since 1978.
Wilde has served in leadership
positions in the McCall Area
Chamber of Commerce, McCall
Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the
American Association of Univer-
sity Women, Beta Sigma Phi, and
Agents Alliance, which is a
multibrand petroleum marketers
association in the western United
States.
She also serves on the Counsel -
ing and Career Development Ad-
visory Board for the McCall -
Donnelly School District.
Wilde is a voter registrar in
Valley County, but she is giving
up that job to avoid concerns
over possible conflicts of interest.
However, there are no state laws
against registrars running for of-
fice, she said.
