PLAINFIELD BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
MEETING MINUTES
May 20, 2021
Commissioner Greg Chapman called the May 20, 2021 meeting of the Board of Police
Commissioners to order at 6:00pm. In attendance were Commissioner Chapman, Commissioner
Gardner, Commissioner Schindlbeck, Chief Konopek and Kim McKinney. Due to the Covid-19
pandemic this meeting was closed to the public. The public was allowed and encouraged to email
all comments or questions they would like addressed to Commission Administrative Assistant Kim
McKinney by 3:00 p.m. May 20, 2021. No questions or comments were received.
Public Forum: Citizen's Comments -None.
The minutes of the March 18, 2021 meeting were read, and Commissioner Chapman
moved the minutes to be approved, Commissioner Schindlbeck seconded the motion. All in favor.
Correspondence- None
Commissioner Chapman- updates the board on the lateral level candidates. The official
list has been provided by Stanard & Associates. Commissioner Gardner moves to approve the
Lateral Level List, Commissioner Schindlbeck seconded the motion. All in favor.
Chief Konopek would like to take the top four candidates from the lateral list and start
background investigation and polygraph of each with the intent of offering employment to the top
two candidates off the lateral list. Chief Konopek would like to offer employment to three
candidates off the entry level list once that list is completed. Commissioner Chapman moves to
approve starting background investigations on the top four candidates off the lateral
list. Commissioner Schindlbeck seconded the motion. All in favor.
Commissioner Chapman updates the board on the entry level candidates. A total of 78
applicants took the written exam. Commissioner Chapman would like to schedule oral interviews
for the top twenty candidates once we receive the list from Stanard. The candidates currently
have time to allow them to submit an option for preference points. Once this time is over the
board will hold a special meeting to approve the list that Stanard will provide and proceed with
oral interviews. Commissioner Chapman would like to have oral interviews held on June 12,
2021.
Chief Konopek lets the board know that he expects to hire six candidates over the next
two years. Chief Konopek also advises the board that we can now hold public commission
meetings as part of Covid 19 restrictions lessening. Our meetings will now be held back at the
Police Department.
Chief Konopek presents Commissioner Gardner with a retirement badge in honor of his
pending retirement from the commission board. Chief Konopek takes the time to thank
Commissioner Gardner for his years of service and dedication to the Village of Plainfield.

There being no further business or discussion, Commissioner Chapman moved the
meeting to be adjourned at 6:34pm.
