A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DEFUNDING
AND ELIMINATING THE ASSISTANT TO CITY MANAGER POSITION FROM THE CITY MANAGER'S
OFFICE AND RESCINDING ANY PROVISIONS FROM ANY AND ALL RESOLUTIONS ESTABLISHING
THE POSITION
WHEREAS, on March 6, 2018, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 18-084 to reclassify one
full-time Principal Administrative Analyst position to a full-time Assistant to City Manager position in the
City Manager's O#fice; and
WHEREAS, on March 7, 2018, the full-time Assistant to the City Manager position in the City
Manager's Office was filled; and
WHEREAS, on June 18, 2019 the City Council also adopted Resolution No. 19-120 amending the
Fiscal Year 2019-20 Budget to appropriate funds for among others, the Assistant to the City Manager
position; and
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2019, the employee holding the full-time Assistant to the City
Manager position in the City Manager's Office resigned from the City; and
WHEREAS, by this Resolution, the City Council hereby directs the City Manager to defund the
full-time Assistant to the City Manager position and also amend Resolution No. 19-120 to eliminate
funding for the position; and
WHEREAS, the City Council also desires to eliminate the Assistant to the City Manager
classification from the City wide classification plan subject to any required Meet and Confer with
AFSCME Local 1017 pursuant to the Myers -Millis -Brown Act (MMBA); and
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES HEREBY FIND,
DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct, and are incorporated herein by
reference as though set forth in full.
SECTION 2. The Assistant to the City Manager position is hereby unfunded and the budget
resolution is amended to reflect that action.
SECTION 3. The City Council hereby directs that the full-time Assistant to the City Manager
position in the City Manager's Office be eliminated from the City wide classification plan subject to any
Meet & Confer obligations under the Myers -Millis- Brown Act (MMBA).
SECTION 4. Any resolutions or provisions of resolutions that are inconsistent with the actions
taken by the City Council in defunding and eliminating the Assistant to the City Manager position are
hereby repealed.
SECTION S. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.

SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter
it into the book of original Resolutions.
