Chick-fil-A Groundbreaking Ceremony
Scheduled for Monday, June 27, 2011
Leesburg, VA (June 23, 2011) – At 11:00 am, on Monday, June 27, 2011, Town of Leesburg
officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Leesburg Chick-fil-A restaurant
located off Edwards Ferry Road in the Target & Kohl’s shopping center. Vice Mayor Kevin D.
Wright will officiate.
Chick-fil-A was started in 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, The Dwarf Grill, in
Hapeville, Georgia. Credited with inventing Chick-fil-A’s boneless breast of chicken sandwich,
Mr. Cathy founded Chick-fil-A, Inc. in the early 1960’s. Since then, Chick-fil-A has steadily grown
to become the second largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, with
over 1,500 locations in 39 states and Washington, D.C. The Leesburg Chick-fil-A will be a 4,663
square foot free-standing restaurant with a drive-thru and outdoor seating.
“I have worked at Chick-fil-A since I was 17 years old, my whole family works for Chick-fil-A and
I even met my husband, Kevin O’Dell, while working in my father’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant,”
said owner/operator Danielle O’Dell. “I look forward to bringing a Chick-fil-A to Leesburg that
will WOW each and every guest. It is my goal to have a team that will provide all guests with a
VIP red carpet experience.”
“Based on the number of inquiries we’ve gotten at Town Hall about Chick-fil-A coming to
Leesburg, I have no doubt that their new restaurant will be very successful,” commented John
Wells, Leesburg Town Manager. “In addition, Chick-fil-A has a great reputation as an excellent
corporate citizen and community supporter. We look forward to their opening later this year.”
