HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 67-741RESOLUTION NO. 67 -741 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Temple City has been, and still is greatly interested in the problems of law enforce- ment in Los Angeles County, and it is the considered opinion of the I City Council that the success of our government on all levels depends upon the effective and equitable implementation of police services, and WHEREAS,: to accomplish this, the City Council believes it is necessary to provide proper and just compensation and inducement to obtain the highest caliber personnel for safety services, and that such compensation should be equal to comparable non - governmental posi- tions and should be such that it will provide motivation for the necessary esprit de corps, NOW THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Temple City does recommend to the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County for theirlconsideration and budget appropriations for the following: 1. Necessary and continuing uniform allowances; 2. Shooting pay which provides adequate incentive for improvement of officers' qualifications with a mini- mum level of ability as a constant qualification, and graduated levels of achievement; 3. Educational incentive pay based upon the accomplish- ment by individual personnel of higher academic stan- dards in the fields of police or related sciences; 4. Pay for authorized overtime; 5. Pay for court time when outside regular duty hours; 6. False arrest insurance sufficient to provide the field deputies with the confidence necessary to carry out their service duties; and 7. Meritorious service award program to encourage indivi- dual activity and understanding for those persons who, as many do, go beyond the call of duty.
