Re: Notice of Public Hearing Regarding Proposed Truman Hotel Tax
Increment Financing Plan
Dear Ms. Powell:
On behalf of the City of Jefferson Tax Increment Financing ("TIF") Commission, the City of
Jefferson is providing you with notice that a public hearing will be held regarding the proposed
Truman Hotel Tax Increment Financing Plan (the "Plan") before the City of Jefferson TIF
Commission on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 320 E. McCarty Street,
Jefferson City, Missouri, 65101. -
The Plan, if approved, would reduce or eliminate the blight in the Plan Area (defined below)
through the redevelopment of approximately 8.65 acres of real property. Specifically, the Plan
calls for the demolition of much of the existing Truman Hotel complex, which has become
blighted and has suffered significant economic decline due to obsolescence, and construction of
two new multi -story hotels, renovation and remodeling of the existing conference space,
reconfiguration of surface parking and ingress/egress, and improvement of signage, landscaping,
and exterior lighting. The Plan would be implemented through two projects, which may be
carried out over the course of several phases. The Plan Area is generally bound by Jefferson
Street to the southeast, an access road for offices of the Missouri Department of Transportation
and Highway Patrol to the southwest, Southridge Drive to the northwest, and Zumwalt Road to
the northeast, all in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. The Plan Area is depicted on the
enclosed map.
A copy of the Plan with a more detailed description of the Plan Area will be available for
inspection in the City Clerk's office at City Hall, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,
Missouri, 65101, on and after February 26, 2016. It maybe inspected between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, exclusive of holidays.
All affected taxing districts may file with the TIF Commission, through the Office of the City
Clerk, written comments and/or objections concerning the subject matter of the Plan and Projects
described in this notice prior to April 11, 2016. Taxing districts may be heard orally at the public
hearing in addition to, or in place of, any written comments. All interested persons will be given
an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing.
