RELINQUISHING INTEREST IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA CRIMINAL JUSTICE
ACADEMY INADVERTENTLY GRANTED TO THE TOWN
WHEREAS, Thomas L. Shaw, Director of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy, in his
October 3, 1990, correspondence to Mayor Robert E. Sevila, stated that the Academy is preparing to sell
a portion of its property; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish the sale all of the property owners must agree; and
WHEREAS, the 1987 Deed lists the Town of Leesburg as one of the owners; and
WHEREAS, the town did not participate at all in the original purchase yet was erroneously listed
as an owner in the Deed together with other political jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, to correct the error and to allow the sale to proceed, the town must relinquish its
interest in the property:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a deed relinquishing and releasing any interest the
town may have in property currently owned by several jurisdictions as identified in the Deed attached
to Thomas L. Shaw's letter of October 3, 1990, to Mayor Robert E. Sevila subject to prior approval of
the Deed by the town's legal staff.
