A RESOLUTION: p~ November 14, 1990 90-294_ ADOI~I~ November 14, 1990 R~QUESTING Al,LOCATION OF FL~L TAX R~V~NUES BY TH~ LOUDOUN COUNTY TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT COMMISSION TO FUND R~GIONAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS IN THE TOWN OF LEESBURG WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Transportation District Commission is collecting a 2 percent local tax on gasoline sold within Loudoun County including Leesburg;, and WHEREAS, the town is currently funding a large part of the cost of the Phase I Route 15 By- Pass Widening Project with funds provided by the Loudoun County Transportation District Commission (LCTDC) and approved by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors; and WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Ires requested information from the town concerning the Phase II Route 15 By-Pass Widening Project for preparation of the FY92 budget for the LCTDC; and WHEBEAS, the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of East Market Street (Business Route 7) and the southbound exit ramp of the Rt. 15 By-Pass and construction of a left turn lane for northbound South King Street (Route 15) at County Club Drive will improve regional as well as local traffic flow, and are included in the town's current Capital Improvements Program. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Town of Leesburg respectfully requests that the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors along with the Loudoun County Transportation District Cowmission include an appropriate allocation of funds in the FY92 budget and future budgets to assist the town with construction of Phase II of the Route 15 By-Pass Widening. SECTION II. The town also requests that funds for the construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of East Market Street and the southbound exit ramp of the Rt. 15 By-Pass and a left turn lane for northbound South King Street at Country Club Drive be allocated from unappropriated FYgl Loudoun County Transportation District Commission funds or included in the FY92 budget or future -2- RE REQUESTING ALLOCATION OF FUEL TAX REVENUES budgets. SECTION I~. The acting town manager is directed to provide the appropriate description, documentation, schedule, cost estimates and other information needed by the Loudoun County Transportation District Commission.
