Leesburg Finance Department Receives Excellence in Financial
Reporting Award for 23rd Straight Year
Leesburg, VA (July 1, 2011) –The Town of Leesburg’s Finance Department received a Certificate
of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Town’s FY 2010 comprehensive
annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of
recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment
represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This year’s
award marks the 23rd consecutive year that the Town of Leesburg has achieved this prestigious
accomplishment.
In order to be selected for the award, the CAFR was judged by an impartial panel of
government finance officers to meet the high standards of the GFOA reporting program.
Criteria include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate
the Town’s financial story.
“I’m so proud of this accomplishment. Receiving this award for the 23rd consecutive year is a
testament to the hard work and dedication of the finance employees,” said Norm Butts, the
Town’s Director of Finance. “This award shows the taxpayers the Town’s commitment to
accountability and transparency of the financial data.”

Canada is a non-profit professional organization serving approximately 17,500 government
