ROLL CALL AND CALL TO ORDER Dave Faurot, Kevin Briem, John Rygh, Scotty Davenport were present. Pat Hill, Ron Rooth, and Mike Lenzi were absent. II. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST III. OLD BUSINESS PARKS a.) Brownsfield Site Assessment Plan Informed the Committee that we have not heard anything about Brownsfield Site Assessment Phase I, but I will keep trying to contact EPA about the completion of Phase I. b.) Riverfront Park. The Committee talked about what can be done this year if anything after Phase II is completed. We are not sure until we hear from the results of Phase II. They also asked about large boulders being placed at Riverfront Park. I informed them I will get back with this at the next meeting. RECREATION a.) Hiking Hiking is over for the summer. We provided transportation and safety for more than 15 hikes all throughout the Valley County with an average of 14 hikers per trip. IV. NEW BUSINESS PARKS a.) Automated Sprinklers. All parks are now automated. This is a huge accomplishment for the Department. Fairway Park is the last park that needs to be on a Timer. b.) Community Enhancement Grant The City is putting in for a Grant with a match from The Rotary Club. This Grant if acquired will be used for redeveloping of the "island" on Highway 55 in Rotary Park. The Rotary Club is also donating up to $20,000 for improvements at Rotary Park. c.) Winterizing Parks/removing no wake buoys The Parks Department has begun winterizing the Parks. We are almost completed. We are also in the process of removing the no wake buoys and storing them for the winter. d.) New/used truck We have just purchased a used 1997 Mazda Truck. This will not only help with less break downs of vehicles but also make the department look like a department. We hope to purchase a used vehicle every year until all old vehicles are removed due to cost of upkeep versus purchasing used vehicles. RECREATION a.) After School Program The Program has begun we have nine kids and are using the music room for classes. The program will run for 10 weeks. b.) Winter Programs This winter we are increasing our programs. We are including Adult Dodge Ball, Youth Movie Night at the Library, Swimming Lessons and we are beginning to find individuals in the community who want to teach special interest classes. c.) IRPA Conference Informed the Committee that I just got back from the Idaho Recreation and Parks Association Conference in Moscow, Idaho. The most important items brought back from this conference were to begin Special Interest Classes and having the Recreation Coordinator work closes with the ASA Softball Association President to increase ASA Tournaments. d.) Winterizing Ball Fields Informed the Committee that we will begin winterizing Fairway Park next week. V.
