John talked to Joanne LaBaw from EPA and she informed him that she might be interested in visiting the site. The committee is worried about getting anything done at Riverfront (cleanup, future development etc.) John informed the Committee that we cannot acquire the Land but we must purchase the Land from the Forest Service at Fair Market Value but he will look at some different ideas. The Committee would like the P&R Director to ask the Grant writer about grant use and what does she need from us for Development Grants. b.) Construction of office space Construction has been completed and everyone in the Department is moved in. b.) Hiring of new position The new person will start May 17th and we are looking forward to his arrival. IV. NEW BUSINESS PARKS a.) Riverfront Park The Committee has requested that I ask the Public Works Director about Boulders at Riverfront Park to see if he can transport them for us. The Committee has also asked if The Parks Supervisor can contact Community Service for cleanup at Riverfront Park. b.) Park Department Activities The Committee has asked for an early walkthrough of the Parks and have decided on May 20th. This lets everyone give input on Parks for next year's budget. The parks are being maintained well though we don't have the number of staff needed. c.) Volunteers We have had an abundance of volunteers this year for help in the Parks. This has helped us out early on when the parks need that early cleanup after the winter. I will be writing a letter to Star News thanking all of the volunteers. RECREATION a.) Youth Softball/Baseball Things are moving along. All sign ups are done and we have about 75 kids. The fields need a lot of work due to weather. b.) The Recreation Coordinator will be running this program. d.) Coed Softball Starts July 12th. I will be running this program and hoping for 6 teams this year. e.) ASA Softball Tournaments — Distributors Scotty Davenport has asked for more tournaments this year. Ron Roth explained the importance of having these tournaments in McCall. I have asked for the Committees' help at finding ways to get more teams and tournaments. They suggested contact the ASA President and get a list of names, numbers and emails for the teams and contact the P&R Directors in Idaho for their help. f.) Skate park Informed the Committee that the McCall Skatepark Committee will be attending meeting within the next month to talk about budgeting for the Skate park and how they are doing on raising monies.
