SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION BY AMURCON CORPORATION
(GOVERNORS SQUARE ASSOCIATES, L.P.) TO THE VIRGINIA HOUSING
DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING TAX CREDITS
WHEREAS, Amurcon Corporation owns approximately 37 acres of land, which is zoned R-16 and
allows multi-family development on this site, in the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Amurcon multi-family rental development is referred to as Governors
Square Apartments; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert W. Schaberg, President of Amurcon Corporation, requested town support
for Amurcon's affordable housing application to the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VI-IDA)
for a 1991 allocation of Federal Tax Credits in a letter dated March 13, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Committee of the Town Council discussed the purpose and
need for this tax credit incentive program, to provide a benefit for low- to moderate-income persons for
the 260 multi-family rental units as proposed, on March 19, 1991 and April 2, 1991; and
WHEREAS, applications for tax credits must be submitted to the VDHA by April 30, 1991:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The Acting Town Manager is hereby authorized to send the following message of support in a letter
to the Virginia Housing Development Authority prior to April 30, 1991:
The construction of Governors Square Apartments and the allocation of federal housing tax credits
available under Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, requested by Governors
Square Associates, L.P. for that development is designed to help meet the housing needs of low to
moderate income citizens. Accordingly, the Town of Leesburg supports the allocation of federal housing
tax credits requested by Governors Square, L.P. for that development.
